The neolithic passage tombs located on the Slieve na Callaigh hills are part of a rich prehistoric landscape. The Project has both been defining the exact location and extent of known monuments and also discovering new sites. There is a circle of standing stones, standing stones, and an enclosure which may be a henge. It is also possible that there is a "Cursus" type monument.

New Barrows

On a ridge of land extending northwards from the Slieve na Calliagh hills, in Drumlerry townland, are several barrows. Although one of these was know previously (green), two new barrows (red) have been discovered through the lidar survey.

The new barrows are not as easily seen in the field as the previously discovered monument. It is much quicker to discover such slight earthworks from a lidar survey than through fieldwork alone.
