UK Phase: September 2008
The UK phase is based around three main events:
• Cambridge Symposium : Archaeology and Linguistics in the Andes (i.e. the pre-Columbian period)
11th-13th September 2008 McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, Cambridge [by invitation only]
• London Symposium: History and Linguistics in the Andes (i.e. the post-Columbian period)
Monday 15th Sept. 2008 Institute for the Study of the Americas, London [by invitation only]
• British Museum Day of Public Lectures: The Pre-History of the Andes: Archaeology and Linguistics
Tuesday 16th Sept. 2008 Sackler Rooms, British Museum, London [free to members of the public]

Thursday 11th | Arrival and check-in to college accommodation (from 2pm). 5.30 pm: welcome and wine reception, Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology 7.30 pm: informal dinner at a local 'gastro-pub' |
Friday 12th | 9.00 am - 5.30 pm: symposium sessions, day 1 (lunch and coffee breaks provided) 7.00 pm - c.10 pm: drinks followed by symposium dinner, Corpus Christi college |
Saturday 13th | 9.00 am - 5.30 pm: symposium sessions, day 2 (lunch and coffee breaks provided) 7.30 pm: informal dinner at a local restaurant – for relevant participants: working dinner to plan the 2009 meeting of the European Network for the Study of Andean Languages |
Sunday 14th | Free day, though with optional visits: morning: walking tour of Cambridge afternoon: minibus trip to the Anglo-Saxon ship burial at Sutton Hoo Trips will end by dropping participants off in London in the early evening for check-in to hotel. |

Thursday 18th | morning: Expert-guided tour of British Library, Treasures and Andean collections afternoon (tbc): planning meeting at SOAS with the administrators of the Hans Rausing Endangered Languages Programme 7.30 pm – 10.30 pm: performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre |
Friday 19th | morning: planning meeting for project publications, with a member of the Publications Committee at the British Academy afternoon: planning meeting for the organisation of phase two events in Peru in 2009. |
