Holly Pittman is Bok Family Professor in the Humanities in the History of Art department at the University of Pennsylvania where she is responsible for the art history and archaeology of ancient Mesopotamia and Iran. She is also Curator of the Near East section at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. As such, she is a leading scholar in the field of Archaeology of Mesopotamia and Iran, with particular expertise in the administrative practices and associated glyptic visual arts from prehistory to Bronze Age. These are topics on which she has published extensively, which are heavily cited in any publication of ancient Mesopotamian and Iranian administrative artifacts.
