Biography
Miao began her studies at the University of Victoria, Canada, earning a BA in Pacific and Asian Studies in 2013. She then furthered her education at Teachers College, Columbia University, USA, achieving an MA in Human Development with a specialisation in Cognitive Science in Education.
To fulfill her passion for heritage and education, Miao pursued a second Master's degree, an MPhil in Heritage Studies, at the University of Cambridge. Currently, as a PhD student in Archaeology at the same university, she continues her studies in this field.
Research
Miao's research focuses on how heritage is presented to the public. Her current PhD thesis, "Neolithic at the Museum: A Comparative Study of the Public Presentation of Prehistory in Provincial Museums in Contemporary China," promises to shed light on the intricate relationship between museum studies, heritage presentation, and socio-cultural dynamics in the modern age.
