Please join us for "Sensory Overload: Sight, Scents, and Tastes," a stimulating online discussion, featuring a panel of invited experts beginning at 5 PM.
Event Changed to online only [Consisting of two sessions, this 'double dialogue' half-day conference combines the remaining series speakers for the Lent term, offering more in-depth discussion and exploration of the theme of sensory phenomena.
Session 1: 'Lingering Sight, Scent, and Taste Worlds' will explore visual cues and optical tools employed by experts to reveal the macro and micro aspects of human-visual traces in colourants and indigenous pigmentation as well as revelations about scent and taste worlds of the past that inform the present. Speakers and the engaged dialogue with the audience will help us rethink the past with experts in anthropology, archaeology, art history and history.

Session 2: ‘Articulating the Senses’ draws together three leading experts in the crafting of archaeologies of art, opening up a conversation about the senseworlds of expression and critical material culture study. Amplifying themes and topics from our earlier dialogues, our participants and the community will also seek to round out the thematic approaches encountered and situate the enduring insights garnered from the term’s entanglements in the Americas.
