I completed my BA in Classics and Archaeology and my BA(Hons) in Archaeology at the University of Cape Town (2019). It took me a little longer than most, as I instead spent the first year and a half of my undergrad trying for a Computer Science degree, before succumbing to my passion to study the past. I then went on to complete my MSc in Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh (2022). From 2021 until 2024, I worked in commercial archaeological excavation in Bavaria and North-Rhine Westphalia.
I have also participated in a number of research excavations, and assisted in teaching excavation and survey techniques.
My PhD focuses on the later prehistory of coastal North Africa, investigating internal and external dynamics by way of spatial and statistical modelling. This is with a view to understand not only interpersonal but also human-environment interactions.
I have a dual passion for computational methodologies and theoretical exploration, specifically with a postcolonial lens. My research interests also include frontier studies, mortuary practices, and the social life of food.
I have previously had the opportunity to work on the Sutherland Reburials Project, led by Prof. Victoria Gibbon at the University of Cape Town, as an undergraduate archaeological researcher.
