Department of Archaeology

Biography

Raised in the Caucasus mountains, I developed a lifelong fascination with ancient civilisations, languages, and landscapes. I studied Egyptology and Ancient History at Moscow State University (2003–2009), graduating with Distinction, before earning my MPhil in Egyptology from the University of Cambridge (2018–2020).

Research

Since 2021, my doctoral research under supervision of Dr Kate Spence explores how water shaped lived experience and ritual practices in ancient Amarna - one of Egypt's best-preserved settlements and a flagship archaeological project at the University of Cambridge. This interdisciplinary project integrates theories and methods from environmental and sensory archaeology, architecture, and political theory.
