Biography

Dr Orengo was a PDRA on the ERC funded TwoRains from 2016 to 2018, and has been the lead researcher on the remote sensing aspects of the project. Since leaving Cambridge, Dr Orengo has held the prestigious tenure‐track Ramón y Cajal Research Fellowship at the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology.

Dr Orengo was a founding member of CDAL, and has co‐authored two groundbreaking papers with the sponsor (Orengo and Petrie 2017, 2018). While in Cambridge and subsequently Dr Orengo has cosupervised two MSCA post‐doctoral fellows with the sponsor, and this work has lead to a number of coauthored papers, including a multi‐authored paper that was recently submitted to PNAS that presents an innovative approach to identifying archaeological sites using automatic detection methods (Orengo et al. in press). This paper has the potential to revolutionise the way that archaeological site documentation occurs.
