Department of Archaeology

For the attention of current students, and Undergraduate and MPhil students starting in October 2020

Due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and government guidance, we have had to make some changes to the delivery of the teaching programme in Archaeology and Biological Anthropology in order to mitigate against risks to health and to give you the best possible academic experience in the circumstances. We will continue to monitor and respond to the changing public health situation.

Following current government recommendations, the Department of Archaeology is aiming to deliver all core lectures online, with a combination of recorded lectures and in-person (socially distanced) small group teaching in lectures, seminars, supervisions and practicals where possible. To accomplish this, we are working hard to adapt our content and delivery to online media. This strategy has additional benefits; by freeing up space and timetable slots we are hoping to facilitate small-group seminars, practical sessions and individual supervisions in-person as much as possible.

Please note that the following papers (available to second and third year students and MPhil students, will not be running this academic year:

-              M6/G35 Sumerian Language

-              A34/G15/G16 The Archaeology of Mesoamerica and North America
