Prof Dilip Kumar Chakrabarti has been awarded a 2019 Padma award

Congratulations to Dilip Kumar Chakrabarti, Professor Emeritus of South Asian Archaeology at Cambridge University, and a Senior Fellow at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, who has been awarded Padma Shri in the 2019 Padma Awards. 

Professor Chakrabarti taught South Asian archaeology at Cambridge from 1990 until his retirement in 2008. He is known for his studies on the early use of iron in India and the archaeology of Eastern India. 

Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian award in India and is awarded by the Government of India every year on India's Republic Day.
