Must Farm’s Bronze Age pottery explored in new video series

The incredible Late Bronze Age pottery assemblage from Must Farm is the focus of a second Making Must Farm video series.
The Must Farm pile-dwelling settlement, an astonishingly preserved Late Bronze Age homestead discovered in Whittlesey, has helped to provide fascinating new detail into daily life almost 3,000 years ago. Incredible conditions helped to preserve a huge selection of material including tools, textiles, weapons and wooden artefacts. However, arguably some of the most evocative finds from Must Farm were the wide selection of pots, jars and bowls, some of which still contained food.
In 2023, archaeologists from the Cambridge Archaeological Unit teamed up with AncientCraft and Emma Jones to create replicas of some of the site’s artefacts in the video series Making Must Farm.
Following positive feedback the series has been continued, this time focusing on the site’s amazing ceramic collection. Reteaming with Emma Jones, the new Making Must Farm videos brought in expert potter Graham Taylor of Potted History to recreate some of the site’s vessel types and explore the processes involved in making these important prehistoric artefacts.
