In recent years, the Museum has operated a custom-built X-ray imaging laboratory, equipped with a high-power X-ray source and the capability for computed tomography (CT) scanning. This talk will give an overview of X-ray imaging in the Museum, including the uncovering of cuneiform writing concealed within a 4000-year-old Mesopotamian clay envelope and understanding the metalworking techniques of the 13th century Islamic world.
