Archaeology Tripos students can take  B1 Humans in Biological Perspective in their first year (Part I). Part II students (second & third year) can then choose either Biological Anthropology Track or the Joint Biological Anthropology/Archaeology Track

 

Part II Biological Anthropology Track

Part IIA

Part IIA students in the Biological Anthropology Track will take the following courses:

Part IIB

Part IIB students in the Biological Anthropology Track will take the following courses:

* two of B11-B18 may be substituted by a year-long paper in Archaeology or PBS,  or by two one-term papers. Alternatively, one of B2-B4 if not already taken in Part IIA.

Part II Joint Biological Anthropology/Archaeology Track

Part IIA

Part IIA students in the Joint Biological Anthropology/Archaeology Track will take the following courses:

  • B5 From Data to Interpretation

    • A2 Archaeology in Action (required if not taken in Part I)
    • A10 Archaeological Theory and Practice I
  • ANOTHER Paper from B2-B4 OR one from:

    • A22 Palaeolithic Archaeology
    • A23 European Prehistory
    • A24 Medieval Globe
    • A26 Mesopotamian Archaeology II: territorial states to empires

Part IIB

Part IIB students in the Joint Biological Anthropology/Archaeology Track will take the following courses:

  • ONE of:
  • and EITHER: 
    • SIX one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) *
    • FOUR one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) + dissertation.
    • FOUR one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) + one of B2-B4 if not taken in Part IIA *
    • FOUR one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) + one of B6/A12/A10 not already being taken.*
    • TWO one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) + one of B2-B4 not taken in IIA + dissertation.
    • TWO one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) + one of  B2-B4 not taken in IIA + one of B6/A12/A10. *
    • TWO one-term options (from B11-B18 and Archaeology one-term papers) + one of B6/A12/A10 + dissertation.

* From 2020-21 dissertations will be compulsory so these options are no longer available.
