Current research interests

My research has two parallel and interlinked themes, of applying isotopic techniques to the reconstruction of palaeodiet in a number of archaeological applications, and the extension and development of the method so as to improve the resolution and interpretations of palaeodiet that we can make from isotopic analyses.

Specific interests include:

• Diet and nutrition in past and present human populations
• The effects of diet composition (especially protein levels and carnivory / herbivory) on human and animal body isotopic values
• Nitrogen (isotopic) metabolism
• Stable isotope techniques (C,N,O,H,S)
