Supervision topics
I currently supervise PhD students investigating Political consumption in Bronze Age Greece, Cypriot Maritime archaeology, identity in the iron age of South Europe (centred on both Thrace and "Dacia") and the Ritual landscapes of Latium. I have supervised students investigating the concepts of the Iron Age- Roman body, burial ritual and urbanism in Etruria, geoarchaeology, settlement studies of Sicily, iron age feasting in East Anglia, early medieval Scotland, visualisation of the Roman domus, GIS of Central Italy, physical anthropology, Nuraghic figurines of Sardinia, Landscapes of Sardinia, the political landscape of Early Rome, prehistoric art/ritual, settlement organisation, monument construction and Phoenician maritime archaeology. More broadly, I am interested in supervising students who wish to study for an MPhil or a PhD in the following topics:
- The Archaeology of the European Iron Age (particularly the Mediterranean)
- Landscapes, accompanied by the application of appropriate techniques such as GIS and visualisation, and often involving fieldwork
- Complex society ranging from developed agricultural societies (e.g. Malta) to early states (e.g. Etruria)
