Implementation
The server runs on an Sun Netra X1. The operating system is OpenBSD and the HTTP server is Apache.
The Department's first web server was an Apple Macintosh LC II running WebStar 1.1. That was horrible and was replaced by a Viglen Genie running (shudder) Windows NT and IIS. That gave me nightmares and was replaced by first a Dell Optiplex running OpenBSD, and then by an Avantek PC running OpenBSD again. The current web server is a Sun Netra running OpenBSD again.
I like Avantek and OpenBSD a lot.
The HTML was prepared using notepad.exe, tidy.exe, HTML-kit, O'Reilly's `HTML' and `Dynamic HTML' and the W3C's HTML validator. And latterly, vi and make.
Maintenance
Comments and corrections should be sent to D.I. Redhouse.
