| Department of Archaeology > Lismore Landscape Project |
The project is aiming to understand the role, function and meaning of Iron Age settlements in their landscape context. How do individual sites or places relate to their local physical, social and conceptual environment? How do sites relate to each other? How important is visibility of the surrounding land and sea? What changes can be detected in economic practices? In addition to questions about the prehistoric past, Matthew Fitzjohn will be asking what these monuments and their surrounding landscapes signify to the current inhabitants of Lismore.
