The Heritage: Archaeology and its Contexts cluster
researches the past and present of the discipline,
work marked by both formal outputs and web
publications, museum exhibitions, conferences, and
outreach programmes, and with the MPhil in Heritage
and Museums proving an effective recruiter of
high-quality doctoral students in this field. The
McDonald Institute's prize-winning Illicit
Antiquities Research Centre has been outstandingly
successful, its activities having played a
significant role in the development of more robust
legislative structures and codes of practice for
museums and auction houses in the UK, as well as
greater ethical awareness.
