Heritage: Archaeology and its Contexts

[World War II German bunkers on Guernsey] The Heritage: Archaeology and its Contexts cluster researches the past and present of the discipline, work marked by both formal outputs and web publications, museum exhibitions, conferences, and outreach programmes, and with the MPhil in Heritage and Museums proving an effective recruiter of high-quality doctoral students in this field. The McDonald Institute's prize-winning Illicit Antiquities Research Centre has been outstandingly successful, its activities having played a significant role in the development of more robust legislative structures and codes of practice for museums and auction houses in the UK, as well as greater ethical awareness.
