Increasing Awareness - Raising Aspirations

Information for local residents and Historical/Archaeological Societies

Whether you have watched Channel 4's Time Team and fancied going on an archaeological dig yourself or wondered about what hidden ancient remains might be waiting undiscovered in your back garden or school field, ACA may be able to make it happen. We help run and support activities which involve generations of the local community in learning more about their heritage and achieve something uniquely different and enduring in their local area. We can provide assistance with archaeological activities for residents and societies including test-pit digging, limited area excavation and field-walking.

In preparation for an event, we can offer guidance on suitable sites and contacts, publicising events and recruitment of volunteers as well as sourcing equipment and materials. We can usually provide on-site expertise to help run the logistics and supervise the archaeological activities. Afterwards, we will conduct the post-excavation finds processing and identification, produce professional reports and notify the relevant archaeological authorities on the findings as well as return to present a summary of these to the community who hosted the fieldwork.
